Code of Conduct

Queer Courts’ Code of Conduct

We play fair, act generously, and practice sportspersonship.

Queer Courts defines sportspersonship as: showing respect toward attendees, organizers, teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and venue staff by being encouraging, avoiding unnecessarily aggressive play (throwing your paddle, purposeful body shots), aggressive or vulgar language, and refraining from any form of verbal, physical, and emotional abuse.

We have zero-tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexual harassment, assault, and violence.

Situations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis by our Community Care team. Once evaluated, a warning may be issued, individuals could be asked to leave an event, or folks can be barred from participating in any future Queer Courts programming.

We follow venue rules.

Queer Courts must abide by the rules of the venues, parks, and locations we play at. At the majority of our venues, this means refraining from drug and alcohol use, keeping food and drink off of courts, and wearing appropriate attire.

We’re inclusive.

We welcome everyone regardless of gender, sexuality, age, race or ability. We make an effort to help all attendees and organizers feel welcomed and celebrated while in our spaces.

See something? Say something.

If you experience or see someone violating this code of conduct, please find an event organizer, email team@queercourts.org, text 503-928-4728, or fill out this confidential incident report form.
